Modelling of the spatial distribution of the rare plant Lilium ledebourii

Abstract

The aim of this study was modelling the spatial distribution ofLilium ledebourii (Baker) Boiss. based on ecological characteristics, in order to predict potential habitats for conservation of a rare plant. Knowledge of the spatial distributions of rare and threatened species and the underlying ecological factors plays an important role in regional conservation assessments and development planning. One potential means to complement the insufficient information concerning the distribution and site suitability of rare species is provided by species distribution modeling. Lilium ledebourii (Liliaceae), locally named “Susan-e-Chelcheragh” is an endemic and rare species growing on the highlands of Damash region in Gilan Province of Iran. The habitat of this species is under IUCN protection, Category III (Natural Monument) by the Iranian Department of Environment since 1976.

Abstract [Persian]

هدف این مطالعه مدل‌سازی پراکنش مکانی سوسن چلچراغ براساس خصوصیات اکولوژیک جهت پیش‌بینی زیستگاه‌های بالقوه برای حفاظت از یک گونه گیاهی نادر می‌باشد. درک پراکنش مکانی گونه‌های نادر و در خطر انقراض، متضمن درک عوامل اکولوژیک موثر بر آن‌ها می‌باشد که نقش برجسته‌ای در ارزیابی حفاظت منطقه‌ای و توسعه برنامه‌ریزی دارد. یکی از ابزارهای بالقوه جهت تکمیل و رفع کمبود اطلاعات درباره پراکنش و تناسب رویشگاهی گونه‌های نادر مدل‌سازی پراکنش این گونه‌ها می‌باشد. سوسن چلچراغ گونه‌ای اندمیک و نادر است که در ارتفاعات ناحیه داماش در استان گیلان، در شمال ایران می‌روید و در طبقه سوم طبقه‌بندی اتحادیه بین‌المللی حفاظت از طبیعت و منابع طبیعی (آثار طبیعی ملی) و از سال 1976 تحت حمایت سازمان حفاظت محیط زیست ایران قرار دارد.
