Notes on Lactuca saligna in Iran

Abstract

In the identification process of weed materials available in "IRAN" herbarium, a specimen belonging to the genus Lactuca (Asteraceae) had the following characteristics: Plant annual, many stemmed from base; stem erect-slightly procumbent, slender, glabrous, whitish and leafy. Basal leaves dried; stem leaves ca. 7 × 0.5 cm, glabrous, linear-lanceolate, entire at margin, sessile, auriculate, auricles small, forming a hastate leaf base. Inflorescence spike-like; heads in the axils of reduced leaves, shortly pedicelate, solitary or in clusters of 2-3; involucres narrow, ca. 12 mm long; florets turning purplish when dry. Achenes ca. 4 × 1 mm, light brown, flattened, inversely ovate, many-ribbed, in upper part provided with short hairs, with filiform 3-3.5 mm long beak; pappus white, deciduous.

در بررسی و تعیین نام نمونه‌های علف هرز ارسالی به هرباریوم "IRAN"، نمونه‌ای از جنس کاهو (Lactuca) متعلق به تیره کاسنی (Asteraceae) مشخصاتی به شرح زیر داشت: گیاه یکساله، از قاعده دارای چندین ساقه راست-کمی خوابیده، بدون کرک، به رنگ سفید و برگ‌دار. برگ‌های قاعده خشک شده؛ برگ‌های ساقه ای به ابعاد تقریبی 7-5/0 سانتی‌متر، بدون کرک، خطی- سر نیزه‌ای، کامل در حاشیه، بدون دمبرگ، گوشک‌دار، گوشک‌ها کوچک، سه گوش. گل آذین به فرم سنبله؛ کاپیتول‌ها واقع بر دم گل کوتاه و منفرد یا در دسته‌های 3-2 تایی؛ گریبان باریک، به طول تقریبی 12 میلی‌متر؛ رنگ گلچه‌ها در حالت خشک شده متمایل به بنفش. فندقه به ابعاد تقریبی 1 × 4 میلی‌متر، به رنگ قهوه‌ای روشن، تخت، واژ‌تخم‌مرغی،  با رگه‌های متعدد، در بخش بالایی دارای موهای کوتاه، با منقار نخی شکلی به طول 5/3-3 میلی‌متر؛ پاپوس سفیدرنگ، ریزان .
